Our bookstore offers an eclectic selection of well written and interesting books in adult fiction, nonfiction, mystery, travel reading, and maritime among others. Additional titles can be special ordered for no extra charge, and in the store usually within a day or two. There is a large but selective section of gardening books. A cookbook section includes many basic and new titles. Books by local authors and of local interest are the centerpiece of the Bookstore. And if you don’t have time to read those bestsellers, or just want to improve your driving time, we rent audio books.
Our children’s books are always popular. We look for old favorites, exciting and well written adventure stories, historical fiction, nature, and fantasy that should attract even the most reluctant readers as well as those reading beyond their years. Our youngest customers can curl up with our resident bear “Ivan” as they enjoy looking at a book. A special feature we enjoy is combining many of our books with appropriate toys to further attract the interest of young readers. We hold a Children’s Reading Circle for preschoolers every Thursday morning from 10:30-11:30. Miss Joan will read theme based stories and compliment the reading with a related craft and snack. All are welcome!
Our office is accessible in the bookstore for all questions, and special orders. We welcome serving book groups and teachers. We are small, but able to evolve with our customers’ interests and encouragement. We are members of the American Bookseller Association, the New England Independent Booksellers Association, and the New England Association of Booksellers for Children.
We are proud to be an IndieBound store, which highlights the diversity of independent bookstores under the auspices of the American Bookseller’s Association. Through this membership, we are able to access book and author information from other independent bookstore owners, including bestseller lists and recommendations. It is a pleasure to share our passion for books and good reading with you and other readers and booksellers across the country.
